The project “Re-Veal Mineral Wool” is developing a practical model for the reuse of hidden materials, using mineral wool as an example. By applying the care model and systematically gathering information, built-in resources are identified, assessed, and made accessible for the circular economy. The project examines material assessments, deconstruction processes, reuse strategies, responsibilities, stakeholder needs, regulatory conditions, and business models. The goal is to create a hands-on proposal for on-site audits, a structured material documentation process, and its integration into real construction workflows — adding value to circular construction and local value creation.
The steps that will be taken during the CBI Booster programare: development and testing of a process model, evaluation of findings, and analysis for follow-up projects.
Insulation materials have so far rarely been used as reuse materials and mostly end up as construction waste. The project aims to unlock this untapped material stock within the existing building stock. By integrating a model based on care ethics, it seeks to foster collective responsibility for circular use. This approach lays the foundation for new business models, local jobs, and strengthens Switzerland’s independence from material imports.
