Customizable Digital Product Passport (DPP) Platform for Circular Construction

Nexswiss

Pepadocs, developed by NexSwiss Sàrl, is a modular Digital Product Passport (DPP) platform that ensures transparent, standardized tracking of construction materials. Our current focus is on adapting the tool for the reuse sector, building on a prototype from the GS1 & öbu collaboration and our proven DPP solution in the rail industry. In partnership with Re-Win, öbu, and GS1 Switzerland, we aim to deliver a market-ready solution enabling stakeholders to register, track, and reuse components (e.g., windows, kitchens, steel beams), unlocking large-scale circular potential for a more sustainable construction industry.

During the CBI Booster, we will focus on piloting and validating the DPP Pepadocs platform for reuse in the construction industry. In collaboration with Re-Win, we will deploy Pepadocs on real projects probably involving reclaimed windows and / or kitchens. We will refine the DPP data model to support non-linear reuse scenarios and explore alignment with emerging standards such as DIN SPEC 91484 and GS1 EPCIS. User feedback from field testing will guide improvements in usability, data capture, and system integration with ERP tools. Our goal is to deliver a template-ready, scalable version of Pepadocs tailored to the reuse sector, complete with verified workflows, standard-compliant data structures, and demonstrated impact.

Pepadocs enables transparent reuse workflows, cutting demand for virgin materials and reducing embodied carbon and waste. This supports climate goals and fosters local circular economies. By building trust in reused products, it simplifies circular procurement and scales impact — lowering costs and emissions while creating jobs in refurbishment, logistics, and the broader circular construction ecosystem.
