The Circular Delivery Compass develops a practical, research-based method to help stakeholders choose the right delivery model—such as IPD or Design-Build—for circular construction. While BIM has digitalized planning, delivery models remain outdated. Integrated approaches are key to reuse and collaboration, yet guidance is lacking. In partnership with the IPD Lab, Campus Sursee, Amberg Loglay, and HHM, the project draws on real projects and BIM simulations to design a clear, usable framework. The result: a transferable tool to support early-stage decision-making and align delivery models with circular goals—enabling smarter, more sustainable construction from the start.
Over the next six months, we will develop the first prototype of the Circular Delivery Compass. This includes analyzing real construction projects, conducting interviews with industry partners, and testing scenarios using BIM-based simulations. The goal is to create an initial, practical decision-making framework that helps project stakeholders select the most suitable delivery model for circular construction.
The project supports a circular built environment by aligning delivery models with circular goals such as reuse, adaptability, and resource efficiency. By enabling early, informed decisions, the Circular Delivery Compass helps integrate circular principles into planning and execution—making reuse and collaboration structurally and contractually feasible from the start.
